C-reaktivní protein a infarkt myokardu

Kardiovaskulární nemoci jsou s současné době stále ještě nejčastější příčinou úmrtí ve vyspělých státech. Příčiny aterosklerózy jsou jednoznačně multifaktoriální, přesto je všeobecně již akceptován názor, že zánět ve sklerotickém plátu napomáhá k iniciaci a progresi aterosklerózy. I když se naše znalosti o patogeneze a léčbě aterosklerózy zvyšují exponenciálně, ještě stále více než u 50 % postižených nemocných nenajdeme tradiční rizikové faktory, jako je arteriální hypertenze, kouření, pozitivní rodinná anamnéza, obezita nebo hypercholesterolémie. Pozornost se proto zaměřuje na nové markery aterosklerózy, jako je C-reaktivní protein(CRP), který se zdá být nejvýznamnějším. Zánětlivá reakce v koronárním plátu hraje klíčovou úlohu v patogenezi aterotrombotické komplikace.
