Infekce nervového systému vyvolané herpetickými viry

Onemocnění nervového systému vyvolaná některými z infekčních agens jsou poměrně častá. Jejich tíže kolísá od relativně lehkých průběhů až po stavy ohrožující život nebo vedoucí dokonce ke smrti postiženého. Škála vyvolavatelů je velmi široká a zahrnuje jak viry, tak bakterie, parazity či mykotická agens. Jedněmi z možných patogenů z říše virů jsou viry herpetické, které jsou v lidské populaci běžné a řada z nich osidluje člověka již ve velmi raném věku. Onemocnění jimi vyvolaná mohou být jak projevem primoinfekce tak reaktivace viru.
