Diuretics in hypertension

Diuretics are one of the longest used drug class in hypertension treatment. In clinical practice they have been used since 1957 and their

discovery is due to research in the field of antibacterial sulfonamides conducted during the 1950s in Merck Sharp and Dohme laboratories.
