Serotinin syndrome: what we should know about it

Serotonin syndrome is a rare potentially life-threatening condition, which is caused by drugs with serotoninergic aktivity. It is characterized

by mental status changes, autonomic instability and neuromuscular hyperactivity. Patients with moderate and severe cases of

serotonin toxicity require hospitalisation. Diagnostic problems are documented by several case reports published in medical literature, the

diagnostic criteria are explained and the list of drugs which can cause the serotonin syndrome is presented in this article.
