Difficulties in arterial hypertension treatment

MUDr.Barbora Nussbaumerová, Ph.D.
Centrum preventivní kardiologie, II. interní klinika LF a FN v Plzni

Prevalence of arterial hypertension in the Czech Republic is around 40%. Blood pressure control is unsuccessfull despite of a big potencial

of pharmacotherapy. Appropriate blood pressure measurement and ambulatory and home blood pressure monitoring have to be

considered. Secondary hypertension must be excluded when suspected. There is a lack in compliance with lifestyle recommendations

and pharmacotherapy. Pharmacotherapy dosing must be sufficient, including diuretics in combination therapy. Fixed combinations and

valuable communication with patients should be effected.
