PhDr. Iveta Ondriová, PhD., PhDr. Terézia Fertaľová, PhD.
Katedra ošetrovateľstva, Fakulta zdravotníckych odborov PU v Prešove

Human aging is a natural, continuous, and irreversible process, during which changes in the organism occur depending on the action of many external and internal factors. The issues of aging and the position of seniors in society are becoming permanently relevant at the economic, psychological, ethical, cultural, health-social, and philosophical levels. This is about the need to promote health purposefully, but also to provide for sick and dependent people, about the need to improve their health status and the possibilities of functioning in society, about offering health programs, and about the effort to extend their active age.

Keywords: old age, adaptation, maladaptation, preventive measures.
