Article provides a summary of autoimmune diseases that result from the failure of tolerance to self tissues. It discusses the mechanisms

if immunological tolerance, principles and stages of formation of autoimmune disease. It provides an overview of the

incidence of autoantibodies more or less characteristic for individual autoimmune diseases.
