The main risks of anti-tumour therapy that general practitioners encounter on daily basis include drug interactions and the management of side effects. Drug interactions are more frequent in the treatment of polymorbid patients. The patients treated for cancer are in greater risk because their therapy is often based on a combination of cytostatics, furthermore, they receive a whole array of supportive drugs. The treatment of cancer is accompanied by numerous side effects. The less significant ones can be managed in cooperation with general practitioners, thus improving the comfort and the compliance of the patient.
