Chicken pox is currently most often reported infectious illness in the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, while immunization is possible, the percentage of those vaccinated against the disease is so far very low. One of the reasons for this is that the vast majority of cases are mild. However, the illness can be accompanied by a range of complications, not only among at-risk groups such as immunosuppresed persons and newborns but also among completely healthy persons.

Bacteria of the genus Sarcina are morphologically very interesting microorganisms. They occur naturally in soil, mud and cereal corns. Their finding is also connected with different pathologies of gastrointestinal tract, especially with syndromes characterized by retarded evacuation of stomach and food passage to lower parts of the intestine. They can be found in the stool samples of humans, who do not suffer any acute or chronic diseases. The pathogenicity of the organism is not entirely confirmed, and it is an interesting subject for future research.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease which is characterized by infiltration of leukocytes into the central nervous system. This situation leads to the destruction of myelin and to the loss of axons and olidendrocytes. MS is an autoimmune disease and the most common cause of neurologic disability in young and middle-aged adults. Fatigue, one of the most common symptoms of MS, may lead to a shortened or decreased quality of life. The cause of fatigue is not clear but probably multifactorial. Diagnosis of fatigue and its quantification is very difficult.

Herpes infections are among very common diseases and are manifested with skin symptoms. They are caused by DNA viruses that are antigenically homogeneous. Human is the only virus source and host. Seroprevalence of the population is very high. Herpes simplex and varicella are the most common conditions. Papillomavirus infections are caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV) that belong to DNA viruses. They most frequently induce the formation of verruca and condylomata. Condylomata are transmitted sexually and associated with risks. Their incidence is increasing worldwide. The exact prevalence of verruca is unknown but it is estimated to affect...

Hypertensive disease is among the most significant risk factors of atherosclerosis in the developed world and represents one of the causes of premature death worldwide. The management of hypertension in patients with a high cardiovascular risk is a major issue. Currently, the main goal of hypertension management is to interfere with the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. However, even treatment with RAAS blockers may not always be unequivocal and may have certain pitfalls. The present case report describes a hypertensive patient with an already developed subclinical organ injury. It illustrates treatment considerations with respect to...
