The significance and options of vaccination as the most effective way of preventing infectious diseases are constantly increasing. The guidelines developed also take into account the specific features of adult population risk groups. The low vaccination rate in the adult population in the Czech Republic can be particularly increased by sufficient awareness at all levels. The general practitioner has an irreplaceable role in educating and making a positive impact on the lay public.

The author presents a review article on the options of immunomodulatory therapy of recurrent respiratory infections (RRI). He first focuses on defining the term RRI and, next, on possible immunomodulatory strategies in the management of these conditions, with a particular regard to the options for general practitioners. He deals in detail with bacterial immunomodulators and the drug OLIMUNOVAC that he has most clinical experience with and that can be used in field practice by general practitioners.

Czech men (aprox. 54 %) suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED). Erectile dysfunction is defined as an inability to achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. Erectile dysfunction is the first symptom of seriouse diseases, especially cardio vascular ones. Modern oral therapy by PDE 5 inhibitors is safe, effective and well tolerated.
