Combination therapy within metabolic syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is present in the Czech Republic at 32% of males and 24% females. The main consequence of the components of metabolic syndrome and atherosclerosis is the cause of death. An important component of hypertension, for which treatment achieves the target values only in 29,5% of hypertensive patients. To improve this situation may lead combination therapy, especially fixed combinations that can improve compliance to treatment.

Over-the-counter (OTC) analgesics are divided according to their clinical effect structure to analgesics – anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, dexketoprofen) – antipyretics (acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, propyphenazone), and analgesics and according to the number of substances to simple and combined analgesics. OTC analgesics are used in the treatment of migraine, tension-type headache and minor secondary headaches. A colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is considered to be the most frequent GIT malignancy and is the second most frequent amongst all malignant tumors. There is only a breast cancer in woman and a prostate cancer in men more plentiful. There are 8000 newly diagnosed cases of CRC every year. And 4000 patients dies of CRC yearly. New ways of administering injection drugs in relapsing multiple sclerosis

The review article provides information on new ways of administering parenteral drugs indicated in the treatment of multiple sclerosis or clinically isolated syndrome. The issues covered include reducing the frequency of administration and increasing the dose, switching from intravenous or intramuscular to subcutaneous administration, or altering the active molecule. The new drugs have the same efficacy as the original ones, while the rate of adverse effects is maintained or even reduced.

Neuromyelitis optica (Devic’s disease) - a rare demyelinating disease

Neuromyelitis optica, also known as Devic‘s disease is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system characterized by attacks of optic neuritis and myelitis. After the discovery of disease specific antibodies against aquaporin 4 (AQP4-IgG/NMO-IgG) the spectrum of clinical symptoms of this disease was broadened. In particular, these symptoms include singultus, vomiting, cranial nerve palsy and disorders of osmotic balance in hypothalamus involvement.
